How old does my dog need to be to get spayed?
We generally spay and neuter dogs and cats at 5 months of age but can often be
done as early as 4 months of age.
When does my kitten need to come in for first shots?
Kittens and puppies start their vaccinations at 6 weeks of age. Deworming can be
started as early as 3 weeks of age.
Does my dog need heartworm preventive in the winter?
We recommend heartworm preventive year round for the most complete protection. I
personally saw mosquitoes in December 2005. And remember that the preventives
also help protect your pet against some of the most common intestinal worms,
too.
What does it mean when my dog scoots his bottom on the floor?
This can be a sign of tapeworms or that the anal glands need to be expressed.
What is an animal license?
This is required by Metro Animal Service of Jefferson County on all dogs and
cats 4 months of age and older.

Yes, we try to work by appointment in order to decrease your waiting time.

When should my dog get his first grooming?
10 to 12 weeks old is a good time to introduce a puppy to the clippers and the
whole grooming experience.
